DOUBLE DEEP PALLET RACKING
Double-Deep Pallet Racking: Optimised Storage with Greater Capacity
Double-deep pallet racking is a high-efficiency warehouse storage system designed to maximise pallet capacity while reducing the number of aisles required. By storing goods two pallets deep, this racking system offers a smart balance between standard wide aisle racking and high-density pallet racking systems such as drive-in racking.
How Double-Deep Pallet Racking Works
In this system, pallets are placed in pairs, one behind the other. To access the rear pallet, the front pallet must first be removed. As a result, at least 50% of pallets remain directly accessible at any time. This makes double-deep pallet racking particularly effective for businesses that store medium to large volumes of the same product line, where full stock rotation is not essential.
Forklift Compatibility
Accessing pallets in this system requires a specialised double-deep reach truck with extended forks. In most cases, a base beam level is included in the design to allow the truck’s legs to extend underneath the racking, ensuring smooth and safe pallet handling.
Key Advantages of Double-Deep Racking
Increases pallet storage capacity by reducing wasted aisle space.
Provides a cost-effective compromise between standard pallet racking and compact systems.
Ideal for bulk storage of identical or slow-rotation products.
Enhances warehouse efficiency by balancing accessibility and density..
Applications
Double-deep pallet racking is widely used in distribution centres, manufacturing facilities, and warehouses where stock rotation is less critical. It offers an excellent storage density solution while maintaining good accessibility, making it a practical choice for many industries.
By combining higher capacity with reliable performance, double-deep pallet racking is a durable, versatile, and space-saving storage system for modern warehouses.
