VNA pallet racking, also known as Very Narrow Aisle racking, is an advanced storage solution that builds on the benefits of adjustable pallet racking while optimising warehouse floor space. By significantly reducing aisle width, VNA pallet racking increases storage density without compromising direct access to every pallet location. How VNA Pallet Racking Works
In this system, the working aisles are much narrower than standard pallet racking layouts, meaning more racks can be installed in the same area. Forklifts enter and operate within these compact aisles to handle pallets quickly and safely. To accommodate this, specialised VNA forklifts are required for efficient operation. Generally, end transfer aisles of around 6500mm are needed to allow for smooth vehicle movement.
Safety and Operational Considerations
Pedestrian pickers must not operate within a live VNA aisle to maintain safe conditions. However, VNA order pickers can be used when stock needs to be retrieved directly from height, making the system versatile for both pallet handling and order picking.
VNA forklifts can be guided with steel rails or a wire sunk into the access aisle.
The floor condition and flatness for a narrow aisle system can be an important consideration.
